While looking out the window it’s hard to imagine the snow covered backyard deck is where you’ll be spending warm summer nights. With March just around the corner the Spring season is almost upon us. It won’t be long before we can enjoy our outdoor spaces again. It’s time for a Spring Clean Up. If you live in the GTA that can be as early as May.
Before dreams of backyard barbecues and yummy tropical cocktails can come true, you need to tackle your backyard cleanup first. There are a lot of things to consider before you begin. Do you have the right tools?
1. Rakes, spades, edger, hedge clippers.
2. A good pair of pruning shears.
3. Lawn fertilizer and Top Soil to help jump-start a lush green lawn.
4. Wheelbarrow and Yard Waste Bags.
5. Garden gloves.
Pruning and trimming flowering shrubs, shade trees, and landscape bushes will keep them healthy. Late March into April is a good time to work on this gardening task. If you’re not quite sure where to start, there a lot of websites that can help guide you to a beautiful yard. Look after this task earlier rather than later. This will reward you with healthier strong trees, shrubs with abundant flowers and beautiful thick green bushes.
It’s time to start checking the junk mail filling up your mailbox and the flyers delivered in your local newspaper. They will be full of Spring sales. Big box stores, garden centers and home improvement stores have started promoting their Spring sales. You can find deck furniture, garden accessories, flowers, plants and everything in between. All the items you need to complete any backyard project .
Here in Southern Ontario in regions such as Flamborough, Halton, Hamilton, Niagara and surrounding areas, garden centers will begin showcasing ready to plant annuals and perennials. Even neighborhood grocery stores will soon have their own mini garden shops. So many beautiful flowers, arrangements, hanging baskets, and plants to choose from.
Now that you have all you need, do you have a storage place for it all? A garage makes a good storage solution but what about a garden shed? There are many types of sheds to choose from. Wooden sheds, aluminum sheds, even plastic sheds. If you want a shed in your back yard to last many years, a wooden shed is a good option. All wooden storage sheds can easily be customized to meet your needs.
If you are considering a custom backyard shed, we can help. In the Back Yard specializes in building wooden sheds. We offer our own signature sheds which include the Muskoka Barn, Highland Gable Shed, Haliburton Cottage Shed, Bobcaygeon Cottage Shed and Algonquin Single Slope. We also offer many accessories and upgrades. You can add tool racks, roof vents, window shutters, window boxes and more.

With a little Home Garden planning now you’ll be ready to enjoy your backyard entertaining when the sun shines.
