Our Highland Gable shed is a standard gable style structure where the roof slopes down from the centre peak to the right and left to meet up with the walls. It offers a great look to your backyard garden or outdoor space. This model is very popular for storing gardening tools, lawnmowers, outdoor furniture, snow shovels, and outdoor toys and games. This model can be found in the many suburban areas within all Southern Ontario regions such as the Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener/Waterloo, Stoney Creek and St. Catharines areas.
The Highland Gable is a very basic model used primarily for storage but can be enhanced with many options and upgrades to create a charming cottage-like building.
Construction consists of 2×4 spruce wall studs with 24” centres and 2×6 pressure treated floor joists, 16” on centre with 5/8” tongue and groove OSB flooring. The walls are built with LP SmartSide, an engineered wood product that comes already primed in a neutral colour.
LP SmartSide siding products are treated using a proprietary process. This process consists of four components of protection adding strength and helps the product to withstand impacts, freeze/thaw cycle, high humidity, fungal decay, and termites.
The majority of the trim is made of unprimed spruce that will require painting. Roof trusses are manufactured at our facility and if required, we can have them Engineer approved and stamped in order to be compliant with local building codes.
All our sheds are installed the same day with a block and gravel foundation unless there is an existing concrete pad. Architectural shingles are available in either black or brown and come with a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Many options to upgrade are available such as upgrading the floorboards from 5/8” OSB to 5/8” pressure treated plywood. This upgrade ensures longevity and greater protection from wear and tear due to excessive use. Some other additional options available are slider windows with screens, plexiglass windows added to the solid doors, window shutters and flower boxes, a workbench, tool racks, and the list goes on.
